Manhattan care guide / Check the bill

The headline is not the whole bill.

Get the later price. Get the extra fees. Then do the sum.

Ask for the total bill before comparing a headline. Self-pay means paying outside your insurance. A medicine price and a price for care may answer different questions.

A low first price needs the later price beside it.

An injection pen holds medicine for a shot. Its strength is the amount of medicine for each shot.

From the record

An offer for semaglutide (Ozempic) injection pens costs $199 for each of the first two qualifying monthly supplies, as of September 2026.

For that offer, later monthly prices are $349 or $499, depending on strength, as of September 2026.

For this offer, patients must be new, in the US, 18 or older and paying outside insurance, as of September 2026. Only certain strengths qualify for the offer, as of September 2026.

The introductory offer runs through December 31, 2026, according to its terms as of September 2026. This cash payment cannot count toward an insurance deductible, as of September 2026.

Before your plan starts contributing to covered care, you pay an amount called the deductible. Ask the plan how the quoted payment will be treated.

Ask about each part of the bill.

  • Medicine: what period and product does the quote cover?
  • Care: are visits and messages included, or charged separately?
  • Tests: what is proposed, and who quotes that cost?
  • Delivery: is it included?
  • Commitment: is there a minimum term, advance payment or cancellation fee?

Keep a blank for an unknown price. A missing quote is a question to ask, not a free item.

A full-bill worksheet

Enter quoted amounts for the same billing period. Leave a box empty when the price is still unknown. Nothing entered here is sent or saved.

Use plain dollar amounts. Include a known no-charge item as a zero; a blank means the quote is missing.

The dollar sign is supplied. A decimal point is fine; leave out currency words.

Before treating a cash quote as an insurance quote.

Ask the health plan about the proposed medicine and the reason for treatment. Bring back its answer before adding up what you expect to pay.
