Write the goal in your own words. It can be a concern, a symptom or a question about weight. Bring a list showing which medicines and supplements you use, plus the questions that are still open.
Start with the problem, then the options.
- Which problem are we aiming to address?
- What else could address that problem?
- What evidence fits my goal and situation?
- What would make a different approach a better fit?
Ask for the exact medicine and its source.
- What is the ingredient name (the generic name), and what brand or product name is on the package? Is it a tablet, injection or another form?
- Has the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved this exact product, or will it be made to order?
- If the medicine will be prepared to order, which need of mine makes that necessary?
- Which pharmacy makes it and gives it to me?
- Who can explain the label and storage instructions?
Ask what care looks like after the visit.
- What would show that the plan is helping?
- What problems would make you reconsider it?
- Are tests proposed, and what will they answer?
- How will follow-up questions be handled?
- Who handles an urgent concern?
Close with the whole bill.
- What do visits, medicine, tests and delivery each cost?
- What is the price after any offer?
- Is there a minimum term or advance payment?
- What happens to my payment if no prescription is issued?
- What are the cancellation and refund rules?
Before you leave the conversation.
Say back the plan in your own words. Ask for the parts that are still unclear. Keep the medicine name, the people’s names and the next step together.
